GrowSmart Maine is pleased to announce the receipt of $45,000 in grants to support its work to promote sustainable prosperity in Maine. GrowSmart Maine is creating an easier way for Mainers to strengthen their hometowns by providing a concierge service for community revitalization with the vision of future generations willing and able to call Maine home. Making Headway in Your Community will be a statewide, searchable, GIS-based inventory of smart growth tools and expertise connecting engaged Mainers to relevant resources for their community, with the goal of tangible on-the-ground change and stronger communities, a sustainable economy, and protected and productive natural areas, all enjoyed by more active and healthier Mainers.

The following grants were awarded to GrowSmart Maine for their work in Making Headway in Your Community:

  • $20,000 from the Elmina B. Sewall Foundation Fund of the Bank of America Charitable Gift Fund
  • $15,000 from the Horizon Foundation Inc.
  • $10,000 from the MCF Fund and the Kay E. Dopp Fund of the Maine Community Foundation

GrowSmart Maine promotes sustainable prosperity for all Mainers by integrating working and natural landscape conservation, economic growth and community revitalization.

We do this by convening and engaging in public conversations about Maine’s future, contributing common sense policy analysis, educating the public, advocating for state and local change and supporting model practices.
