Email title:   Take action: Partnership for Sustainable Communities in Real Danger

As you may know, the Partnership for Sustainable Communities is a collaboration between the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U. S. Department of Transportation (DOT) that helps communities break down barriers in existing federal housing, transportation and infrastructure programs while providing an incentive for improving regional collaboration among public, private and non-profit stakeholders

From connecting affordable housing with jobs to turning dilapidated lots into vibrant downtown centers, the Partnership is making a difference in our communities, where we are hurting the most.

Unfortunately, despite the benefits of the Partnership, the U.S. House of Representatives just stripped funding for the portion of this program at HUD in their Fiscal Year 2012 budget proposal. The Senate will consider funding for the Partnership on Thursday, September 15. It is vital that we tell our Senators to maintain funding for this important program.

These are tough economic times, which makes it even more important to keep the innovative programs that put federal dollars to good use rebuilding our local economies, strengthening our communities, and creating necessary jobs.

Tell Senators Collins and Snowe to protect funding for the Partnership for Sustainable Communities.
