GrowSmart Maine is pleased to announce that Executive Director Nancy E. Smith has been accepted into the Maine Association of Non-Profit’s (MANP) 2011 Nonprofit Leadership Institute. MANP states “The Nonprofit Leadership Institute is created specifically for Executive Directors working in economically depressed areas, and focuses on developing the essential skills needed by nonprofit leaders to capture creative opportunities in order to effectively meet their missions.”

Executive Director Smith was one of 20 applicants selected for the 8 month program. “Although I have a broad range of professional experience from which to draw, this is my first opportunity to lead a non-profit, membership-based organization. With our focus on sustainable prosperity of all Mainers, GrowSmart Maine is well positioned to build on our past accomplishments and existing partnerships to make a difference here in Maine.” This program is funded by The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), and is provided free of charge to the participants.

GrowSmart Maine promotes sustainable prosperity for all Mainers by integrating working and natural landscape conservation, economic growth and community revitalization. We promote Quality of Place by convening and engaging in public conversations about Maine’s future, contributing common sense policy analysis, educating the public, advocating for state and local change and supporting model practices.
