#10!

INFRASTRUCTURE
When planning Maine’s future – today’s decisions matter. Summit 2012 aims to investigate how Maine can build a strong foundation to support future growth.
In two different breakout sessions, Summit 2012 envisions what is on the horizon at the intersection of Maine’s economy,
environment and community and how Maine can best prepare for coming changes. In the morning, Tom Welch of the Maine Public Utilities Commission, Phil Lindley of ConnectME and Tim Johnston of Summit Utilities explore how natural gas and transmission lines represent potential renewable energy sources and key infrastructure for the 21st century in a discussion moderated by the Hon. Ken Fletcher. In the afternoon session led by Sean Mahoney of the Conservation Law Foundation, former Senator Peter Mills, now head of the Maine Turnpike Authority, Patricia Quinn of Northern New England Passenger Rail and Nancy Grant of the Maine Bicycle Coalition, examine the financing of transportation infrastructure, how transportation impacts our land use patterns and why decisions made today matter.

Summit 2012 Breakout Sessions allow you to explore in-depth the topics and issues that are important to you . At each session a moderator will introduce the topic at hand with panelists providing a brief overview of their work in the relevant area. Plenty of time will be devoted to Q&A and discussion with the audience.
