February 2022 Newsletter from GrowSmart Maine

Today, we are sharing information on our upcoming webinar and providing an update on our advocacy in the Statehouse.

WEBINAR: Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act: Can Transportation and other Infrastructure investment lead to Smart Growth in Maine?

We hope you’ll join us NEXT THURSDAY, February 3rd, at 11am for a webinar during which Erich Zimmermann, Deputy Director and Transportation Director for the National Association of Regional Councils, will provide an overview of the Federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act with specific focus on the portions of the legislation that provide historic funding for smart growth. This includes billions in new funding for smart growth planning and implementation, transit, bicycle and pedestrian projects, housing and more, all of which has the potential to transform how cities and others approach transportation and economic development.

Please note that Registration is FREE for current members, and $25 for non-members. Please consider joining GrowSmart Maine for $50 and enjoy free webinars throughout the year.

How will advocacy in 2022
be different from 2021?

As we review legislation and prioritize where we will dedicate our time over the next few months, let’s begin by defining how the Second Regular Session of the 130th Legislature is quite different from the First Regular Session. We’ll provide an overview of our plans for this session soon.

With gratitude,

Nancy Smith
