GSM & Build Maine: Policy Action 2023
May 17, 2022 @ 5:30 am - 8:00 am
Build Maine and GrowSmart Maine are co-hosting a series of virtual crowdsourcing meetings from March through May to advance critical policies and projects that enhance Maine’s quality places, communities, and economy. Join us for our last meeting on May 17.
The meetings will convene leaders from across the state and from varied disciplines who understand the current land use system, and who are in a position to help change it for the better. The objective is to have a coordinated set of policies ready for legislators to submit for the 2023 Legislative session.
Work with us to identify policies, regulations, incentives, rules, practices, and cultural norms that can be addressed through state level policy changes to produce better outcomes for our state. This is an opportunity for participants to align and coordinate efforts, so everyone is pulling in the same direction.
These meetings will be facilitated by Eric Kronberg, who will help us navigate a robust and productive series of on-line sessions with energy and openness.
Here’s the schedule:
First: We invite you to the remaining large group virtual meeting to be held on May 17 from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm:
- Tuesday, May 17th: subgroups begin developing policy proposals – RSVP Here for May 17
Through these facilitated discussions, we will brainstorm issues and potential solutions that enhance Maine’s quality places, communities, and economy to create a suite of legislative proposals for further work.
Then: Following these initial brainstorm meetings, you can join subgroups that will form around specific proposals having sufficient broad support or targeted energy. The subgroups will focus on further developing their specific proposals and reaching out to potential sponsors through the summer and fall.
Finally: By November, bills and resolves will be in a form for sponsors to submit to the Revisor’s Office in mid-December. We will bring people back together periodically for large group sessions in the summer and early fall so everyone can touch base throughout the process.
You are invited to be part of this process in whatever way works for you. These sessions are open, with targeted invitations to nonprofit, municipal, regional, state agency, legislative, financial, and business perspectives.
