Kennebec Volunteer Tech Help Project

Are you comfortable using computers, tablets, or smartphones? Do you have a few hours a month to help a neighbor? Many community members need support with tasks like sending emails, using apps, or video chatting with family.

A new program in Kennebec County is looking for friendly volunteers to help people in your community learn how to use technology. As a volunteer, you will meet with your neighbors one-on-one at your local library and show them how to do these things. It’s a great way to make a difference and share what you know!  You don’t have to know everything.  The program can provide resources for you to share with your neighbors if you don’t have a solution.

We are looking for volunteers in Kennebec County who can give just two to four hours a month, starting in July, to help others with their tech questions. We provide everything you need to get started, including:

  • An initial meeting and training, led by experienced tech helpers

  • Help connecting with your local town library

  • Support materials on what works, what to avoid, and how to handle tough situations

If you’re interested in joining the program, please email Hildie Lipson, Program Director, at hlipson@growsmartmaine.org.
